This is the first book from our ButterWings the Butterfly duology and covers rigging and test animating a butterfly creature named ButterWings. The second book will cover keyframe and procedural animation for our little creature (coming by May 2027). Both books will be accompanied by video tutorials, which can be purchased separately (coming soon).

The duology is part of the Little Creatures with Personality series, which aims to rig and animate a few little creatures in Autodesk Maya. Procedural animation is a large factor in the series, as we’ll look at how a character’s signature can be discovered and replicated with Python code. We hope you will enjoy our research journey through our books and video tutorials.
